Drug-Coated Balloon for Arteriovenous Access Stenosis in Hemodialysis Patients

چکیده

Hemodialysis access stenosis is a pervasive problem that occurs due to the physiology of high-flow circuit. Stenosis endothelial and smooth muscle injuries result in neointimal hyperplasia. Percutaneous transluminal angioplasty standard treatment for dialysis access-induced stenosis. Unfortunately, it also associated with vessel wall trauma, which causes further intimal hyperplasia restenosis. Data from randomized controlled trials (RCTs) systematic reviews use drug-coated balloons (DCBs) have been controversial. While several single-center or RCTs reported safe effective DCBs, conflicting results still exist. Furthermore, paclitaxel known be an increased mortality risk. Herein, we review current evidence on role DCBs

Endovascular Stent Placement for Hemodialysis Arteriovenous Access Stenosis

This study aims to report the outcomes of nitinol and polytetrafluoroethylene covered stent placement to treat hemodialysis arteriovenous access stenosis at a single center over a five-year period. Clinical and radiological information was reviewed retrospectively. Poststent primary and secondary patency rates were determined using Kaplan-Meier analysis. Ten clinical variables were subjected to...

The experience use of drug-coated & non drug-coated balloons in arteriovenous fistula at a six months period: brief report

Background: The ineffectiveness of hemodialysis fistulas causes high costs and increases mortality and morbidity rates. The efficacy of drug-coated balloon and nondrug-coated balloon in dysfunctional arteriovenous Fistula was evaluated over six month period. Methods: In this randomized clinical trial, a total of a total of 50 hemodialysis patients who referred to Imam Reza Hospital in Kermansh...

Access flow reduction and recurrent symptomatic cephalic arch stenosis in brachiocephalic hemodialysis arteriovenous fistulas.

BACKGROUND Recurrent cephalic arch stenosis (CAS) has been linked to high flow and has a high rate of recurrence following angioplasty. This study investigates the effectiveness of access flow reduction in decreasing rapidly recurrent symptomatic CAS. METHODS A retrospective study of patient records from February 2005 to April 2009 was conducted. Patients with brachiocephalic fistulas who had...
